Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU): Removal
NOTE:
The HCU and ABS module are serviced as an assembly.

NOTE: The PMI process must begin with the current ABS module installed. If the current ABS module does not respond to the diagnostic scan tool, the tool may prompt for As-Built Data as part of the repair.
Using a diagnostic scan tool, begin the PMI process for the ABS module following the on-screen instructions.
- Remove the LH and RH front fenders. Refer to: Fender .
- Remove the front bumper cover. Refer to: Front Bumper Cover .
- Remove the windshield washer reservoir. Refer to: Windshield Washer Reservoir .

- Disconnect the hood ajar switch electrical connector.
- Detach the hood latch release cable from the mounting bracket.
- Detach latch cable harness retainers and disconnect the hood latch release cable eyelet from the hood latch.
- Remove the retainers and the chimney grills.
- Detach the wiring harness retainers and disconnect the cooling fan electrical connectors.
- Remove the nuts and the cooling fans.
Torque: 97 lb.in (11 Nm)
- Disconnect the electrical connectors. Remove the nuts, bolts and the outlet duct cover.
Torque: 18 lb.ft (25 Nm)

NOTE: If the fluid is spilled on the paintwork, the affected area must be immediately washed down with cold water.NOTE: Make sure all openings are sealed.
- Disconnect the brake tube fittings.
Torque: 159 lb.in (18 Nm)
- Detach the brake tube retainer.
- Disconnect the remaining brake tube fittings.
Torque: 21 lb.ft (28 Nm)
- Disconnect the brake tube fittings.
- Remove the front undershield. Refer to: Front Undershield .

NOTE: Make sure all openings are sealed.
Disconnect the brake tube fittings and remove the brake tubes.
Torque: 21 lb.ft (28 Nm)
- Disconnect the ABS module electrical connector.
- Remove the bolt.
Torque: 35 lb.ft (48 Nm)
- Discharge the power steering system pressure. Refer to: Power Steering System Pressure Discharge .
- Loosen the fitting and disconnect the hydraulic line.
Torque: 19 lb.ft (26 Nm)
- Remove the HCU and ABS module assembly.
