Tie Rod: Removal

Remove the tie rod end. Refer to: Tie Rod End .
1. Remove and discard the tie rod end jamb nut.
2. Remove and discard the outer tie rod boot clamp.

1. Remove and discard the inner tie rod boot clamp.
2. Remove the tie rod boot.

NOTE: Hold the steering gear rack while loosening the tie rod. Failure to hold the rack securely could result in steering gear damage.

NOTE: It may be necessary to turn the steering wheel to one side or the other in order to expose the steering gear rack enough to hold with a wrench.

While holding the exposed steering gear rack, remove the tie rod.

Torque: 77 lb.ft (105 Nm)
