Front Subframe: Installation

  1. Using the transmission jack, raise the subframe. Use the General Equipment: Transmission Jack

  2. Connect the EPAS electrical connector and attach the wiring harness retainers.

  3. Install the heat shield, position the ground cable and tighten the bolts.

    Torque: 62 lb.in (7 Nm)

    • Using the transmission jack position the subframe, install the front suspension side member bracket and finger tight all bolts at this stage. Use the General Equipment: Transmission Jack

  4. NOTE: While tightening the subframe bolts, make sure the front subframe does not move.

    Using the special tool tighten the subframe bolts. Use Special Service Tool: 502-002 (T94P-2100-AH) Alignment Pins, Subframe.

    1. Tighten the subframe to body bolts.

      Torque: 85 lb.ft (115 Nm)

    2. Tighten the front suspension side member bracket to subframe bolts.

      Torque:

      Stage 1: 103 lb.ft (140 Nm)

      Stage 2: 180 °

    3. Tighten the front suspension side member bracket bolts.

      Torque: 46 lb.ft (62 Nm)

    4. Tighten the front crossmember to front suspension side member bracket bolts.

      Torque: 35 lb.ft (47 Nm)

  5. Attach the wiring harness retainers.

  6. Tighten the roll restrictor through bolt.

    Torque: 92 lb.ft (125 Nm)

  7. Position the muffler inlet pipe and tighten the bolts.

    Torque: 18 lb.ft (25 Nm)

  8. On both sides. Connect the lower arm ball joint to the wheel knuckle and tighten the bolts.

    Torque: 61 lb.ft (83 Nm)

  9. On both sides. Connect the tie rod end to the wheel knuckle tighten the nut.

    Torque: 35 lb.ft (48 Nm)

  10. NOTE: The stabilizer bar links are designed with low friction ball joints that have a low breakaway torque.
    NOTE: Use the hex-holding feature to prevent the ball stud from turning while removing or installing the stabilizer bar link nut.

    On both sides. Connect the stabilizer bar link to stabilizer bar and tighten the nuts.

    Torque: 46 lb.ft (63 Nm)

  11. If equipped. On both sides. Tighten the front crossmember to subframe bolts

    Torque: 18 lb.ft (25 Nm)

  12. If equipped. Install the underbody shield and the retainers.

  13. Install the wheels. Refer to: Wheel and Tire .
  14. Attach the steering column shaft to steering input shaft and tighten the bolt.

    Torque: 21 lb.ft (28 Nm)

  15. Connect the battery ground cable. Refer to: Battery Disconnect and Connect .
  16. Check and if necessary, adjust front toe. Refer to: Front Toe Adjustment .
