10R80 (RWD) Transmission: Notes
Starting in 2017 MY, 10R80 replaces 6R80 on some truck applications. 10R80 is a 10-speed, step ratio rear wheel drive transmission that is controlled by an external Control Module.
- 2017 MY 10R80 will be controlled by a Transmission Control Module (TCM).
- Starting in 2018 MY, a Powertrain Control Module (PCM) that controls both engine and transmission function will be introduced on gas engine applications
- For Diesel engine applications 10R80 will continue be controlled by a TCM.
10R80 Stick Diagram:
- A Torque Converter with a Torque Converter bypass Clutch (TCC)
- 4 planetary gear sets - each with a Ring gear (R), Carrier (C) and Sun gear (S)
- 7 clutches (Clutches A-F plus a One Way Clutch)
- 4 speed sensors
- Turbine Speed Sensor (TSS) - senses transmission input speed, Carrier 2 (C2)
- Intermediate Speed Sensor A (ISSA) - senses Ring gear 1 speed (R1)
- Intermediate Speed Sensor B (ISSB) - senses Carrier 1 / Ring 4 speed (C1 and R4 are connected, always rotate at the same speed)
- Output Speed Sensor (OSS) - senses Carrier 4 speed (C4)
