Lower Arm: Installation

  1. NOTE: Only tighten the bolts finger tight at this stage.

    Install the lower arm and the lower arm bolts in sequence shown.

  2. Position the ball joint seal and connect the lower arm. Install the new wheel knuckle bolt.

    Torque: 61 lb.ft (83 Nm)

  3. Install the wheel and tire. Refer to: Wheel and Tire .
    1. Finger tight
    2. Tighten the nuts.

      Torque:

      Stage 1: 85 lb.ft (115 Nm)

      Stage 2: 90 °

    3. Tighten the nuts.

      Torque:

      Stage 1: 85 lb.ft (115 Nm)

      Stage 2: 90 °

  4. Install the vehicle/axle stands to support the suspension at curb height. Install the General Equipment: Vehicle/Axle Stands

  5. NOTE: Tighten the suspension bushing fasteners with the suspension loaded or with the weight of the vehicle resting on the wheels and tires, otherwise incorrect clamp load and bushing damage may occur.

    Tighten the front lower arm-to-frame bolt.

    Torque:

    Stage 1: 111 lb.ft (150 Nm)

    Stage 2: 90 °

  6. Remove the vehicle/axle stands. Remove the General Equipment: Vehicle/Axle Stands
  7. If equipped, install the bracket and tighten the bolts as sequence shown.

    Torque:

    1:: 18 lb.ft (25 Nm)

    2:: 35 lb.ft (48 Nm)

  8. If equipped, install the underbody shield and the retainers.

  9. Connect the battery ground cable. Refer to: Battery Disconnect and Connect .
  10. Check and if necessary adjust front toe. Refer to: Front Toe Adjustment .
