Transfer Case Draining and Filling

Draining
- Follow the health and safety precautions. REFER to: Health and Safety Precautions .
- With the vehicle in N, position it on a hoist. REFER to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview .
- If equipped. Remove the retainers and the underbody shield.
- Remove the PTU drain plug.
- Install the PTU drain plug.
Torque
: 33 lb.ft (45 Nm)
Filling
- Remove the PTU fill plug.
- Fill the PTU with clean fluid, level with the fill plug opening.
Material
: Motorcraft® SAE 75W-140 Synthetic Rear Axle Lubricant / XY-75W140-QL (WSL-M2C192-A)
- Install the PTU fill plug.
Torque
: 33 lb.ft (45 Nm)
- If equipped.Install the underbody shield.
