Body Control Module (BCM): Removal

Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.

NOTE: If the BCM did not respond to the diagnostic scan tool, As-Built Data may need to be entered as part of the repair. This step is only necessary if the BCM is being replaced.
Using a diagnostic scan tool, begin the PMI process for the BCM following the on-screen instructions.

NOTE: The PAM is integral to the BCM. This step is only necessary if the BCM is being replaced.
Using a diagnostic scan tool, begin the PMI process for the PAM following the on-screen instructions.
- Remove the push pins and remove the LH lower instrument panel insulation panel.
- Disconnect the electrical connector.
- Remove the steering column. Refer to: Steering Column .
- Release the clips and remove the instrument panel side trim panel.
- Remove the cowl side trim panel.
- Release the lower clips.
- Release the upper tab.
- Remove the hood latch release handle cover.

NOTE: Insert a 10mm 1/4 inch drive socket to release the tabs.
Release the hood latch release handle retaining tabs.
- Remove the hood latch release handle.

- Remove the front door scuffplate trim panel.
- Release the rear clips.
- Release the center clips.
- Release the front clips.
- If equipped. Disconnect the electrical connector.
- Detach the clips and remove the foot rest from the floor.
- Position back the carpet.
- Detach the push pin type retainers and remove foot rest pad from the floor.
- Remove the nuts and the bolt and position aside the floor wiring harness shield.

NOTE: If equipped.
Disconnect the electrical connectors, remove the screws and the column and pedal memory module.
- Disconnect the electrical connector and detach it from the instrument panel.

NOTE: Electrical connectors can be accessed through the opening in the instrument panel and from under the instrument panel.
Release the harness retains and disconnect the electrical connectors.

NOTE: BCM bracket mounting shown.
Remove the nut, and the BCM from the mounting bracket.
Torque: 44 lb.in (5 Nm)
