Steering Column Lock Module: Removal

  1. Remove the steering column shrouds. Refer to: Steering Column Shrouds .
  2. Disconnect the steering column lock module electrical connector.

  3. Use a chisel and hammer to cut a slot in the steering column lock module bolt.

  4. NOTE: The steering column lock and ignition switch housing is secured with a break-away head bolt. Tighten the bolt until the hex head portion of the bolt breaks away.

    Remove the steering column lock module bolt. Use the General Equipment: Flat-Bladed Screwdriver

    Torque

    18 lb.ft (25 Nm)

  5. NOTE: Note the position of the component before removal.

    1. Position the steering column lock module mounting strap up out of the way.
    2. Remove the steering column lock module.
