Main Control Cover: Removal

  1. Remove the air cleaner. Refer to: Air Cleaner .
  2. Remove the wiring harness retainers.

  4. Remove wiring harness retainer bracket nuts from the front cover.

  5. Remove the transmission main control cover studs.

  6. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview .
  7. If equipped.

    1. Remove the retainers and the shield reinforcement.
    2. Remove the retainers and the underbody shield.

  8. NOTE: Be prepared to collect escaping fluid.

    Remove the transmission fluid pan drain plug and allow the transmission fluid to drain.

  9. NOTE: Make sure that the component terminals are not bent or damaged.

    Disconnect the main electrical connector, remove the wiring harness retainers from the transmission fluid thermal bypass valve bracket and position aside the wiring harness.

  10. Remove the transmission main control cover studs.

    Remove the bolts and remove the transmission main control cover.
