Pinpoint Test Purpose

To verify DTC U2300 is present and provide diagnostics if DTC U2300 is currently present and active in the PSCM.

  1. CA1: CHECK THE VEHICLE REPAIR HISTORY 
    • Check the vehicle history for recent service actions related to the PSCM or steering column.
    • Have there been any recent service actions related to the PSCM or steering column. 
    Yes No
    REPEAT the PMI procedure as directed by the diagnostic scan tool or CONFIGURE the PSCM using vehicle as-built data. Go to  CA2.
  2. CA2: VERIFY THE PSCM DTC 
    • Clear the PSCM DTCs.
    • Ignition OFF.
    • Wait at least 90 seconds for the modules to completely shut down.
    • Ignition ON, engine OFF.

    Carry out the PSCM self-test.

    • Does DTC U2300:xx return? 
    Yes No
    Go to  CA3. The condition causing the DTC is not present at this time.
  3. CA3: VERIFY PSCM CONFIGURATION 
    • Ignition ON, engine OFF.
    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, configure the PSCM. Refer to Module Configuration article .
    • Ignition OFF.
    • Wait at least 90 seconds for the modules to completely shut down.
    • Ignition ON, engine OFF.

    Carry out the PSCM self-test.

    • Does DTC U2300:xx return? 
    Yes No
    INSTALL a new EPAS gear.
    REFER to Power Steering article
    ORDER a replacement EPAS gear and INCLUDE the RVC on the form.
    If this is a Ford paid repair, INCLUDE the RVC on the warranty claim form.
    The condition causing the DTC is not present at this time.
