Inspection and Verification
Diagnostics in this service information assume a certain skill level and knowledge of Ford-specific diagnostic practices. REFER to: Diagnostic Methods .
- Verify the customer concern.
- Visually inspect for obvious signs of mechanical or electrical damage.
- If an obvious cause for an observed or reported concern is found, correct the cause (if possible) before proceeding to the next step.
- If the cause is not visually evident, retrieve all continuous memory diagnostic trouble codes (CMDTCs) and refer to Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Chart .
- If no diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) are present, verify the symptom and refer to Symptom Chart
