Selector Lever Cable Adjustment

For information on Ford Color Coded Illustrations refer to OEM Color Coding .

Adjustment 

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the KOEO position and apply the parking brake.

  2. Using the diagnostic scan tool select the cable adjustment mode.
  3. NOTE: The GSM will alternate flashing D or N and L (if equipped) or S (if equipped) simultaneously.

    Rotate the shifter to the D position.

  4. Remove the retainers and the engine undershield.

  5. Disconnect the selector lever cable from the transmission manual lever.

  6. Position the transmission manual lever in D

    1. Rotate the selector shaft lever clockwise until it stops.
    2. Rotate the selector shaft lever counterclockwise 3 detents.

  7. Unlock the adjuster.

    1. Move the slide to the left.
    2. While holding the slide, position the adjuster lock upward.

  8. Attach the selector lever cable to the transmission manual lever.

  9. Snap the selector lever cable adjuster lock into place.

  10. Install the engine undershield and the retainers.

  11. Choose P on the GSM.

  12. Clear any DTCs.
  13. Shift the transmission through the ranges starting in P, then R, then N, then D, then N, then R and then back to P.
  14. Check for DTCs.
  15. Disconnect the scan tool.
  16. Verify that the vehicle starts in P and N only and that the reverse lamps illuminate in R.
