Rear Lower Control Arm Bracket: Installation

  1. Refer to: JOINING TECHNIQUES .
  2. If equipped.

    • Loosely clamp the replacement bracket in a preliminary position. Perform measurements to verify proper placement of the rock slider bracket, then clamp firmly into position. With all measurements verified and the new bracket in proper position, tack-weld the new bracket in place.

  3. NOTE: If equipped.

    Re-check measurements, then solid weld the rock slider bracket to the rear lower control arm bracket assembly.

    1. Weld length - 26mm Use the General Equipment: MIG/MAG Welding Equipment
    2. Weld length - 51mm

  4. Loosely clamp the replacement bracket in a preliminary position. Perform measurements to verify proper placement of the new rear lower control arm bracket, then clamp firmly into position.

    • With all measurements verified and the new bracket in proper position, tack-weld the new bracket in place to the frame assembly.

  5. Re-check measurements, then solid weld the rock slider bracket to the rear lower control arm bracket assembly.

    1. Weld length - 222mm Use the General Equipment: MIG/MAG Welding Equipment
    2. Weld length - 292mm

  6. Mark out the desired position for the rear lower control arm bolts using the position obtained earlier and drill a hole on either side of the panhard rod bracket. Use the General Equipment: 15 mm Drill Bit

  7. Metal finish the repair area using typical metal finishing techniques.
  8. Restore corrosion protection. Refer to: CORROSION PREVENTION .
  9. Install the rear lower control arm. Refer to: Lower Arm - Rear Suspension.
  10. NOTE: RH side only.

    Install the fuel tank assembly. Refer to: Fuel Tank - 2.3L EcoBoost (199kW/270PS). Refer to: Fuel Tank - 2.7L EcoBoost (238kW/324PS).
