Main Track Assembly: Installation

  1. NOTE: LH shown, RH side similar.

    If servicing the front cam. Install the main track assembly front cam.

    1. Position the main track assembly front cam on the underside of the main track assembly.
    2. Install the main track assembly front cam retainers

      Torque: 40 lb.in (4.5 Nm)

  2. NOTE: The return tube must remain fully clipped in the main track assembly or interference with the drive cable mechanism may occur.

    LH side only. If the cable return tube separates from the main track assembly. Install the front end of the cable return tube 10 mm (0.4 in.) in front of the forward retaining clip.

  3. LH side only. With the help of an assistant, position the main track assembly for installation.

    1. Both drive cables. Feed the drive cables into the matching holes in the roof opening panel motor block and drive tube assembly.
    2. Move the main track assembly rearward and position on the roof opening panel motor block and drive tube assembly.

  4. LH side only. With the help of an assistant, install the main track assembly.

    1. Install the 2 main track assembly alignment retainers.

      Torque: 62 lb.in (7 Nm)

    2. Install the 5 main track assembly retainers.

      Torque: 62 lb.in (7 Nm)

  5. NOTE: Make sure the return tube snaps properly into position on the roof opening panel motor block.

    LH side only. Snap the return tube into the roof opening panel motor block.

  6. RH side only. With the help of an assistant, position the main track assembly for installation.

    1. Both drive cables. Feed the drive cables into the matching holes in the roof opening panel motor block and drive tube assembly.
    2. Position the main track assembly approximately 50.8 mm (2 in.) from the final position on the roof opening panel motor block and drive tube assembly.

  7. RH side only. With the help of an assistant, install the main track assembly.

    1. NOTE: Inset view is from above the vehicle for clarity.

      The ESD wire must be positioned properly in the track assembly and on the shield tension bar.

      Position the ESD wire in the track assembly above the drive cables and on the shield tension bar.

    2. Slide the main track assembly onto the ESD wire and the roof opening panel motor block and tube assembly.
    3. Install the 2 main track assembly alignment retainers.

      Torque: 62 lb.in (7 Nm)

    4. Install the 5 main track assembly retainers.

      Torque: 62 lb.in (7 Nm)

    Tighten the roof opening panel motor block and drive tube retainers.

    Torque: 62 lb.in (7 Nm)

    Both roof opening panel glass drive cable mechanisms must be positioned the same in the LH and RH main track assemblies before installing the motors for proper cable timing.

    On both sides, as necessary.

    1. Position the roof opening panel glass drive cable mechanism so the drive cable alignment locator is visible through the main track assembly alignment hole.
    2. Insert a 3.175 mm (0.125 in.) hex wrench or equivalent through the main track assembly alignment hole and into the roof opening panel drive cable mechanism hole.
    3. Tape the hex wrench to the main track assembly.

    Both shield drive cables must be fully forward in the tracks before installing the motors for proper cable timing.

    On both sides. Push the roof opening panel shield drive cable mechanism to the front of the main track assembly.

  11. Install the roof opening panel sliding glass and shield motors. Refer to: Roof Opening Panel Motor 
  12. NOTE: The alignment pin must be removed from both LH and RH main track assembly or damage to the system will result.
    NOTE: LH side shown, RH side similar.

    On both sides, remove the 3.175 mm (0.125 in.) hex wrench (or equivalent) from the main track assembly.

  13. NOTE: Use hand tools only or damage may result.

    Using a hex wrench as shown, manually open the shade to the fully open position.

  14. Install the roof opening panel shield. Refer to: Roof Opening Panel Shield 
  15. Install the air deflector. Refer to: Air Deflector 
  16. Install the acoustic seal.
