Disassembly And Assembly Of Subassemblies: Piston: Assembly

NOTE: Align the piston-to-connnecting rod orientation marks made during disassembly.

NOTE: If installing a new piston, install with the arrow towards the front of the engine.

Install the piston to the connecting rod.

NOTE: The piston pins are a floating type piston pin and should not require a press to remove or install them.

Lubricate with clean engine oil and install the piston pin.

Material: Motorcraft® SAE 10W-30 Super Duty Diesel Motor Oil / XO-10W30-QSDF (WSS-M2C171-F1)

Install the piston pin retainers.

NOTE: The top compression ring is identified with a orange stripe on the running surface.

NOTE: The intermediate ring is identified with yellow stripe on the running surface. Install the ring with the under cut to the bottom.

Lubricate with clean engine oil and install the piston rings.
