Climate Control System - Overview
Overview
Single Zone Electronic Automatic Temperature Control (EATC)
The climate control system consists of the following components:
- A/C compressor: Externally Controlled Variable Displacement Compressor (EVDC)
- A/C clutch and field coil
- A/C condenser
- A/C evaporator
- A/C pressure transducer
- Air inlet door actuator
- Ambient air temperature (AAT) sensor
- Blower motor control module
- Cabin air filter
- Climate control assembly (switches)
- Climate control housing
- Connecting refrigerant lines
- Defrost vent door actuator
- Driver side discharge air temperature sensor
- Evaporator temperature sensor
- Footwell vent/register door actuator
- Heater core
- HVAC control module
- Internal Heat Exchanger (IHX) line
- In-vehicle temperature and humidity sensor
- Receiver drier
- Sunload sensor
- Temperature door actuator
- Thermostatic Expansion Valve (TXV)
The single zone EATC system maintains the vehicle's interior temperature by heating and/or cooling the air based on the HVAC control panel selection.
- The control panel selection determines heating or cooling, air distribution and enables blower motor operation.
- The driver may override the automatic mode of operation.
- The fan speed control adjusts the blower motor speed.
- The temperature control setting is the desired cabin air temperature.
- During A/C operation, the system reduces the relative humidity of the air inside the vehicle.
