Power Steering Pump: Removal

NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.
  1. Discharge the power steering system. Refer to: Power Steering System Pressure Discharge  .
    1. NOTE: When removing the power steering fluid reservoir cap or disconnecting power steering components, make sure the surrounding areas are clean and free of foreign material.

      Clean the area around the power steering fluid reservoir cap.

    2. Remove the power steering fluid reservoir cap.

  2. Using a suction gun, remove the fluid from the power steering fluid reservoir.

  3. Remove the LH headlamp assembly. Refer to: Headlamp Assembly .
  4. Remove the power steering system fluid supply hose from the power steering pump.

  5. Disconnect the power steering pressure line.

    Torque: 19 lb.ft (26 Nm)

  6. Disconnect the power steering pump electrical connectors.

  7. Remove the nuts and remove the power steering pump.

    Torque: 97 lb.in (11 Nm)

  8. Remove the retainer and remove the power steering pressure line.

    Torque: 18 lb.ft (25 Nm)

  9. Remove and discard the power steering pressure line O-rings.
