Steering Wheel: Removal

NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.
NOTE: Make sure the steering wheel and the road wheels are in the straight ahead position.
NOTE: Heated steering wheel shown, others similar.
  1. Remove the driver airbag. Refer to: Driver Airbag .
  2. Disconnect the steering wheel electrical connector(s).

  3. NOTE: Make sure the tick-mark on the end of the steering column shaft is on the top position.

    Remove and discard the steering wheel retainer and remove the steering wheel.

    Torque: 35 lb.ft (48 Nm)

  4. Tape the clockspring rotor to the outer housing to keep it from rotating.
