Pinpoint Test Ya: Powertrain Control Module (Pcm) Internal Software Concern

NOTE: This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose informational Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) that are the result of the failure mode effects management operating strategy that maintains limited vehicle function in the event of a PCM, software configuration, wiring harness or a component concern. Circuit, component, and communication Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) may be accompanied by the informational Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) and must be diagnosed first. Informational Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) without the presence of other Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) may or may not indicate the actual concern and should be diagnosed as a symptom.

Refer to Wiring Diagrams ELECTRONIC ENGINE CONTROLS - 6.7L DIESEL for schematic and connector information.

Normal Operation and Fault Conditions

Refer to the DTC Fault Trigger Conditions.

DTC Fault Trigger Conditions

DTC Description Fault Trigger Condition
PCM P05EC:00 Cold Start Injection Timing Performance: No Sub Type Information Sets when the PCM detects an internal error within the PCM.
The communication of the internal PCM processor is compromised.
PCM P0600:00 Serial Communication Link: No Sub Type Information Sets when the PCM detects an internal error within the PCM.
The communication of the internal PCM processor is compromised.
PCM P060A:00 Internal Control Module Monitoring Processor Performance: No Sub Type Information Sets when the PCM detects an internal error within the PCM.
The presence of this DTC may indicate the vehicle is operating in derate mode and may experience a loss of power. After repair, the vehicle may still display a system warning message. Drive the vehicle until the system warning message has cleared from the IPC message center.
PCM P060B:00 Internal Control Module A/D Processing Performance: No Sub Type Information Sets when the PCM detects an internal error within the PCM.
Check for other Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) or drive symptoms for further action.
PCM P060C:00 Internal Control Module Main Processor Performance: No Sub Type Information Sets when the PCM detects an internal error within the PCM.
PCM P061A:00 Internal Control Module Torque Performance: No Sub Type Information Sets when the PCM detects the measured engine torque value exceeds the maximum allowable engine torque value.
The presence of this DTC may indicate the vehicle is operating in derate mode and may experience a loss of power.
PCM P061B:00 Internal Control Module Torque Calculation Performance: No Sub Type Information Sets when the PCM detects a calculation error.
The presence of this DTC may indicate the vehicle is operating in derate mode and may experience a loss of power.
PCM P061C:00 Internal Control Module Engine RPM Performance: No Sub Type Information Sets when the PCM detects a calculation error.
Verify correct operation of the CKP sensor, the CMP11 sensor and related circuits.
The presence of this DTC may indicate the vehicle is operating in derate mode and may experience a loss of power.
PCM P062B:00 Internal Control Module Fuel Injector Control Performance: No Sub Type Information Sets when the PCM detects the fuel injector energizing time is greater than the permitted energizing time after overrun demand by the driver.
The presence of this DTC may indicate the vehicle is operating in derate mode and may experience a loss of power.
PCM P062C:00 Internal Control Module Vehicle Speed Performance: No Sub Type Information Sets when the PCM detects a network communication error within the PCM.
The presence of this DTC may indicate the vehicle is operating in derate mode and may experience a loss of power.
REPAIR any ABS or TCM Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs). REPAIR any ABS or TCM related Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) in other modules, or any vehicle communication concerns prior to diagnosing DTC P062C.
PCM P168F:00 Cold Start Injection System Performance: No Sub Type Information Sets when the PCM detects an internal error within the PCM.
The communication of the internal PCM processor is compromised.
