Body Control Module (BCM): Removal

NOTE:
Modules are not interchangeable between vehicles.
NOTE:
When installing a new junction box, make sure that the contents match those of the removed junction box.
- If installing a new BCM, connect a battery charger to the battery to make sure it is charged to maintain proper battery voltage. Refer to: Battery Charging .

NOTE: This step is only necessary when installing a new component.

General Equipment
Ford approved diagnostic tool
- Refer to: Battery Disconnect and Connect - Vehicles With: Dual Batteries .
- Release the clips and remove the trim panel.
- Remove the cup holder assembly.
- Release the clip and remove the trim panel.
- Remove the retainers.
- Remove the retainers.
- Release the clips and position the LH trim panel to access the electrical connector.
- Remove the screws and the panel.
- Disconnect the BCM electrical connectors and wire harness retainers.
- Disconnect the BCM electrical connectors.
- Detach the BCM wiring harness retainers and position them aside.
- Remove the BCM.
- Remove the bracket nut.
Torque:
48 lb.in (5.4 Nm)
- Release the tab and by slightly lifting up, remove the BCM.
- Remove the bracket nut.
