Body Control Module (BCM): Removal

NOTE: Modules are not interchangeable between vehicles.
NOTE: When installing a new junction box, make sure that the contents match those of the removed junction box.
  1. If installing a new BCM, connect a battery charger to the battery to make sure it is charged to maintain proper battery voltage. Refer to: Battery Charging .
  2. NOTE: This step is only necessary when installing a new component.

    Download the module information to the diagnostic tool using the Programmable Modules Installation PMI routine.

  3. Refer to: Battery Disconnect and Connect - Vehicles With: Dual Batteries .
  4. Release the clips and remove the trim panel.

  7. Remove the retainers.

  9. Release the clips and position the LH trim panel to access the electrical connector.

  10. Remove the screws and the panel.

  11. Disconnect the BCM electrical connectors and wire harness retainers.

    1. Disconnect the BCM electrical connectors.
    2. Detach the BCM wiring harness retainers and position them aside.

  12. Remove the BCM.

    1. Remove the bracket nut.

      Torque:

      48 lb.in (5.4 Nm)

    2. Release the tab and by slightly lifting up, remove the BCM.
