High-Pressure Fuel Pump Drive Unit: Removal

  1. Release the cooling system pressure. Refer to: Engine Cooling System Draining, Vacuum Filling and Bleeding
  2. Remove the high-pressure fuel pump. Refer to: High-Pressure Fuel Pump 
  3. Clamp off the cooling system hoses with the hose clamp pliers, disconnect the cooling hose quick connect couplings, then move the hoses out of the way. Refer to: Quick Release Coupling

    Use the General Equipment: Hose Clamp(s)

  4. Detach the wiring harness retainers from the high-pressure fuel pump drive unit studbolts.

  5. Remove the upper high-pressure fuel pump drive unit studbolts.

  6. Loosen the lower high-pressure fuel pump drive unit studbolt, then remove the high-pressure fuel pump drive unit with the lower studbolt.
