Temperature Gauge Does Not Operate Properly

  1. Perform INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER (IPC) SYSTEM CHECK  under SYSTEM TESTING. Go to next step.
  2. Start engine. Using scan tool, check Displayed Coolant Temperature. If Displayed Coolant Temperature reading is within 25 degrees of IPC gauge reading, go to next step. If Displayed Coolant Temperature reading is not within 25 degrees of IPC gauge reading, go to step 6).
  3. Check Monitored Coolant Temperature on scan tool. If reading is 100-260(0)F, go to next step. If reading is not 100-260(0)F, go to step 5).
  4. Check Monitored Coolant Temperature and Displayed Coolant Temperature. If readings are within 25 degrees, go to next step. If readings are not within 25 degrees, go to step 6).
  5. If Monitored Coolant Temperature is less than 100(0)F, gauge should be at or near lowest reading. If Monitored Coolant Temperature is more than 260(0)F, gauge should be at or near maximum reading. If gauge is reading properly, IPC is okay. If gauge does not read properly, go to next step.
  6. Replace IPC. Perform INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER (IPC) SYSTEM CHECK  under SYSTEM TESTING.
