Removal Procedure

    CAUTION: Refer to SIR Caution in Cautions and Notices.
    IMPORTANT: In the event deployment has occurred, inspect the steering wheel module coil wire for any sign of scorching, melting, or other damage due to excessive heat. If the coil is damaged, replace it.
  1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 3 .
  2. Place the front wheels in the straight ahead position.
  3. Remove the steering wheel from the steering column. Refer to Steering Wheel Replacement in Steering Wheel and Column.

  4. Remove the three screws and the steering column lower trim cover (6) from the steering column.

  5. Disconnect the steering wheel module coil electrical connector (1).

  6. Slide the steering column upper cover, release the 3 claws (2) and remove the steering wheel module coil (1).
