Installation Procedure

  1. Route the I/P module pigtail down through the I/P.
  2. Install the I/P module to the instrument panel.
  3. NOTE: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
  4. Install the I/P module mounting fasteners.

    Tighten:  Tighten the fasteners to 9 N.m (80 lb in).

  6. Route the I/P module wiring harness in place to secure the I/P module yellow 2-way connector clip.
  7. Install the I/P retainer. Refer to Instrument Panel Retainer Replacement .
  8. Install the I/P module yellow connector to the vehicle harness yellow connector.
  9. Install the CPA to the instrument panel module connector.
  10. Enable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling .
  11. After replacing the module, deploy the old module before disposal. If the module was replaced under warranty, fully deploy and dispose of the module after the required retention period. Refer to Inflator Module Handling and Scrapping  for proper disposal.
