Removal Procedure
- If replacing the right side spark plug(s), remove the right front wheelhouse liner. Refer to Front Wheelhouse Liner Replacement - Right Side , and remove the right side plug(s) through the wheel opening.
- Identify how to disable high voltage.
- Identify how to test for the presence of high voltage.
- Identify condition under which high voltage is always present and personal protection equipment (PPE) and proper procedures must be followed.
- If replacing the right side spark plug(s), perform the service disconnect. Refer to High Voltage Disabling .
- Remove the spark plug wire from the spark plug.
- Twist the spark plug wire boot a 1/2 turn.
- Pull only on the boot in order to remove the wire from the spark plug.
- Brush or using compressed air, blow away any dirt from around the spark plug.
- Remove the spark plug.
If removing more than one plug, place each plug in a tray marked with the corresponding cylinder number.

Always perform the High Voltage Disabling procedure prior to servicing any High Voltage component or connection. Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) and proper procedures must be followed.
