Installation Procedure

- Lift the front axle assembly (1) into position.
Slide axle assembly rearward over the top of the crossmember. Install the axle to cross member bolt loosely. Rotate the axle assembly up and into position.
- Install axle to frame rail bolts (1) and the axle to crossmember bolt (2) and nut (3). Tighten all attachment bolts to 160 N.m (118 lb ft).
- Install the vent hose (1).
- Install the electric motor actuator and tighten to 30 N.m (22 lb ft).
- Install the electrical connector.
- Install the front wheel drive shafts. Refer to Front Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement - Left SideFront Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement - Left Side (ZR2) , and Front Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement - Right SideFront Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement - Right Side (ZR2) ..
- Install the front axle propeller shaft. Refer to Front Axle Propeller Shaft Replacement .
- Install the steering gear skid shield. Refer to Steering Gear Skid Shield Replacement (without ZR2)Steering Gear Skid Shield Replacement (with ZR2) .
- Fill the front differential assembly with fluid. Refer to Front Axle Lubricant Replacement .
- Install the front tires and wheels. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
