Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle (ATS)Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle (ATS-V) .
  2. Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (Non V-Series)Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (V-Series) .
  3. Remove the parking brake shoes. Refer to Parking Brake Shoe Replacement .

  5. Remove the parking brake cable bolt (1).

  7. Lift the parking brake actuator lever spring (1).
  8. Using a small tool, lift the parking brake cable over and off of the parking brake actuator lever.
  9. Remove the parking brake cable from the rear brake backing plate and position aside.
  10. Remove the rear wheel bearing and hub assembly. Refer to Rear Wheel Bearing and Hub Replacement .

  12. Remove the rear brake backing plate (1).
