Removal Procedure

- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle (ATS)Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle (ATS-V) .
- Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (Non V-Series)Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (V-Series) .
- Remove the parking brake shoes. Refer to Parking Brake Shoe Replacement .
- Remove the parking brake cable bolt (1).
- Lift the parking brake actuator lever spring (1).
- Using a small tool, lift the parking brake cable over and off of the parking brake actuator lever.
- Remove the parking brake cable from the rear brake backing plate and position aside.
- Remove the rear wheel bearing and hub assembly. Refer to Rear Wheel Bearing and Hub Replacement .
- Remove the rear brake backing plate (1).
