Installation Procedure

  1. GM4286463

    Position the intermediate steering shaft (1) in the vehicle.

  2. GM4286462

    Intermediate Steering Shaft (2) @ Steering Gear - Install

    3. CAUTION:

    Refer to Fastener Caution .

  3. Intermediate Steering Shaft Lower Bolt (1) - Install and tighten 55 N.m (41 lb ft)
    1. Clean the threads of the bolt with denatured alcohol or equivalent and allow to dry.
    2. Apply thread locking adhesive to the bolt. Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers

    Intermediate Steering Shaft (2) @ Steering Column - Install

  5. Intermediate Steering Shaft Upper Bolt (1) - Install and tighten 42 N.m (31 lb ft)
    1. Clean the threads of the bolt with denatured alcohol or equivalent and allow to dry.
    2. Apply thread locking adhesive to the bolt. Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers 
  6. Instrument Panel Insulator - Left Side - Install - Instrument Panel Insulator Replacement - Left Side
