Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
  2. Remove the front tire and wheel assembly. Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation
  3. Remove the appropriate steering gear boot.

  4. CAUTION:

    Holding the steering gear rack bar with anything other than a non-serrated adjustable wrench will cause damage to the steering gear

  5. Cover the electric belt drive rack and pinion steering gear bar with a clean shop towel.
  6. Hold the electric belt drive rack and pinion steering gear bar with a non-serrated adjustable wrench.
  7. Using a universal inner tie rod wrench, loosen the steering linkage inner tie rod.
