Repair Procedures: Removal
- Loosen the wheel nuts slightly. Raise the vehicle, and make sure it is securely supported.
- Remove the front wheel and tire (A) from the front hub.
Tightening torque:
107.9 - 127.5 N.m (11.0 - 13.0 kgf.m, 79.6 - 94.0 lb-ft)
NOTE: Be careful not to damage the hub bolts when removing the front wheel and tire. - Remove the wheel speed sensor by loosening the wheel speed sensor bracket bolt (A) and wheel speed sensor mounting bolt (B).
[4WD]
Tightening torque:
6.9 ~ 10.8 N.m (0.7 ~ 1.1 kgf.m, 5.1 ~ 8.0 lb-ft)
- Loosen the wheel speed sensor bracket bolt and then disconnect the wheel speed sensor connector (A).
[2WD]
Tightening torque:
6.9 ~ 10.8 N.m (0.7 ~ 1.1 kgf.m, 5.1 ~ 8.0 lb-ft)
- Remove the under cover (A) & (B).
- Remove the tie rod end ball joint from the knuckle.
- Remove the split pin
- Remove the castle nut
- Disconnect the ball joint (A) from knuckle (B) using the special tool (09568-2J100).
Tightening torque:
88.3 ~ 107.9 N.m (9.0 ~ 11.0 kgf.m, 65.1 ~ 79.6 lb-ft)
Information
Apply a few drops of oil to the special tool. (Boot contact part)
- Remove the tension arm (A) from the knuckle by using the SST (09568-2J100).
[2WD]
- Remove the split pin (B).
- Remove the castle nut (C).
- Disconnect the ball joint from knuckle using the special tool (09568-2J100).
Tightening torque:
88.3 ~ 107.9 N.m (9.0 ~ 11.0 kgf.m, 65.1 ~ 79.6 lb-ft)
- Loosen the nut and then remove the compression arm using SST (09568-2j100).

Tightening torque:
88.3 ~ 107.9 N.m (9.0 ~ 11.0 kgf.m, 65.1 ~ 79.6 lb-ft)
- Loosen the nut and then remove the lateral arm using SST (09568-2j100).
Tightening torque:
88.3 ~ 107.9 N.m (9.0 ~ 11.0 kgf.m, 65.1 ~ 79.6 lb-ft)
[2WD]
[4WD]
- Unscrew the steering universal joint bolt (A) to disconnect the universal joint assembly from the steering gear box.
Tightening torque:
32.4 ~ 37.3N.m (3.3 ~ 3.8 kgf.m, 23.9 ~ 27.5lb-ft)
NOTE:- Keep the steering wheel in a neutral position. Moving the steering wheel may damage the cable inside the clock spring.
- Tighten the steering column bolts in the same direction as they were removed.
- Do not reuse the universal joint bolt when installing.
- Remove the clip.
- Disconnect the connector.
[4WD]
- Loosen the mounting bolt (A). [Both side]
- Disconnect the EPS connector (A) and then remove the steering gear box.
Tightening torque:
88.3 ~ 107.9 N.m (9.0 ~ 11.0 kgf.m, 65.1 ~ 79.6 lb-ft)
[4WD]
[2WD]
NOTE: Be careful not to damage the ECU when removing steering gear box. - Using the engine support fixture (SST No.: 09200-38001, 09200-2S100, 09200-2S200), hold the engine assembly safely.
- Remove the engine mounting bracket of both sides.
[LAMBDA]
Tightening torque:
156.9 ~ 176.5N.m (16.0 ~ 18.0kgf.m, 115.7 ~ 130.2lb-ft)
[TAU]
Tightening torque:
63.7 ~ 83.4 N.m (6.5 ~ 8.5 kgf.m, 47.0 ~ 61.5 lb-ft)
[LH]
[RH]
- Remove the brake disc cooing air duct. [Both side]
[2WD]
- Loosen the sub frame sub mounting bolts. [Both side]
[2WD]
- Loosen the sub frame mounting bolts and then remove the sub frame.
[4WD]
Tightening torque:
156.9 ~ 176.5N.m (16.0 ~ 18.0kgf.m, 115.7 ~ 130.2lb-ft)
CAUTION: Must use a jack for safety.[2WD]
Tightening torque:
137.3 ~ 156.9 N.m (14.0 ~ 16.0 kgf.m, 101.3 ~ 115.7 lb-ft)
CAUTION: Must use a jack for safety. - Remove the tension arm/compression arm from the sub frame.
(Refer to Front Suspension System - "FRONT LOWER ARM ")
- Remove the lateral arm from the sub frame.
(Refer to Front Suspension System - "FRONT LOWER ARM ")
- Remove the front stabilizer bar from the sub frame.
(Refer to Front Suspension System - "FRONT STABILIZER BAR ")
- Install in the reverse order of removal.
- Check the alignment.
