Repair Procedures: Removal

  1. Turn ignition switch OFF and the disconnect the battery negative (-) cable.
  2. Raise the vehicle, and make sure it is securely supported.
  3. Separate the propeller shaft assembly (A) after loosening the bolts.

    Tightening torque  :

    49.0 - 68.6 N.m (5.0 - 7.0 kgf.m, 36.2 - 50.6 lb.ft)

  4. Loosen the bolts and then removing the ground line (A).

  5. Loosen the bolts and then removing the muffler bracket (A).

    Tightening torque  :

    29.4 - 39.2 N.m (3.0 - 4.0 kgf.m, 21.7 - 28.9 lb-ft)

  6. Remove the transmission cross member (A) after loosening the bolts and nuts.

    Tightening torque  :

    Bolts: 58.8 - 73.5 N.m (6.0 - 7.5 kgf.m, 43.4 - 54.2 lb-ft)

    Nuts: 29.4 - 34.3 N.m (3.0 - 3.5 kgf.m 21.7 - 25.3 lb-ft)

    CAUTION:
    • Supporting the transmission on a jack (A).

  7. Remove the exhaust manifold stay (A).

    Tightening torque  :

    49.0 - 58.8 N.m (5.0 - 6.0 kgf.m, 36.2 - 43.4 lb-ft)

  8. Remove the clip (A) and clutch tube (B) after loosening the bolt of wiring bracket.

  9. Remove the vacuum pump.

    (Refer to Brake System - "VACUUM PUMP ")

  10. Disconnect the back-up lamp switch connector (A) and then remove the bracket of wiring (B).

  11. Disconnect the neutral switch connector (A).

  12. Disconnect the CKP sensor connector (A) after loosening the bolt.

  13. Separate the select rod.
    1. Press the clip (A) on the both sides and pull them towards the inside.

    2. Separate the retension clip (A) by pulling it toward the "F" arrow.

    3. Remove the select rod shaft (B).

      NOTE:
      • Push the retention clip enough and remove the shaft to the bottom.
      • When installing the retention clip, cover the shaft's upper and bottom parts completely with the retention clip so that the shaft is not out of its place.
    4. Separate the select rod (C) from the transmission.

  14. Separate the base bracket.
    1. Remove the left side clip (A).

      Information 

      CAUTION:
      • Remove the clip in the order of arrow direction.
      • Remove both clips in the same order.
      • When installing the do not reuse the clip.

    3. Separate the base bracket (C) from the manual transmission.

  15. Remove the dust cover (A).

    Tightening torque  :

    9.8 - 11.8 N.m (1.0 - 1.2 kgf.m, 7.2 - 8.7 lb-ft)

  16. Remove the manual transmission assembly.
    1. Loosen the transmission lower mounting bolts (A), (B).

      Tightening torque  :

      1. 39.2 - 46.1 N.m (4.0 - 4.7 kgf.m, 28.9 - 34.0 lb-ft)
      2. 34.3 - 46.1 N.m (3.5 - 4.7 kgf.m, 25.3 - 34.0 lb-ft)
      3. 49.0 - 63.7 N.m (5.0 - 6.5 kgf.m, 36.2 - 47.0 lb-ft)
      4. 42.2 - 53.9 N.m (4.3 - 5.5 kgf.m, 31.1 - 39.8 lb-ft)
