Repair Procedures: Removal: AWD

  1. Loosen the wheel nuts slightly.

    Raise the vehicle, and make sure it is securely supported.

  2. Remove the front wheel and tire (A) from the front hub.

    Tightening torque: 

    107.9 - 127.5 N.m (11.0 - 13.0 kgf.m, 79.6 - 94.0 lb-ft)

    NOTE:
    • Be careful not to damage the hub bolts when removing the front wheel and tire (A).

  3. Loosen the nut (A) and then disconnect the stabilizer link from the front strut assembly.

    Tightening torque: 

    98.1 - 117.7 N.m (10.0 - 12.0 kgf.m, 72.3 - 86.8 lb-ft)

  4. Remove the under cover.

    (Refer to Engine Mechanical System - "ENGINE ROOM UNDER COVER ")

  5. Loosen the bolts (A) and then remove the stabilizer bar.

    Tightening torque: 

    49.0 - 63.7 N.m (5.0 - 6.5 kgf.m, 36.2 - 47.0 lb-ft)

  6. Loosen the bolt (A) and then separate the universal joint from the shaft joint.

    Tightening torque: 

    32.4 - 37.3 N.m (3.3 - 3.8 kgf.m, 23.9 - 27.5 lb-ft)

    NOTE:
    • Keep the steering wheel in a neutral position. Moving the steering wheel may damage the cable inside the clock spring.
    • Tighten the steering column bolts in the same direction as they were removed.
    • Do not reuse the universal joint bolt when installing.
  7. Disconnect the R-MDPS connector (A) and clip (B).

  8. Disconnect the R-MDPS wiring clip (A) from the sub frame.

  9. Remove the front wheel guard.

    (Refer to Body - "FRONT WHEEL GUARD ")

  10. Remove the split pin and tie rod end ball joint nut (A).

    Tightening Torques: 

    88.3 - 107.9 N.m (9.0 - 11.0 kgf.m, 65.1 - 79.6 lb-ft)

  11. Remove the tie rod end ball joint (A) from the knuckle by using the SST (09568-2J100).

  12. Loosen the gear box bolts (A) and then remove the gear box.

    Tightening torque: 

    107.9 - 127.5 N.m (11.0 - 13.0 kgf.m, 79.6 - 94.0 lb-ft)

    NOTE:
    • Be careful not to damage the ECU when removing the steering gear box.

  13. Remove the lateral arm pin and nut (A).

    Tightening Torques: 

    88.3 - 107.9 N.m (9.0 - 11.0 kgf.m, 65.1 - 79.6 lb-ft)

  14. Remove the lateral arm from the knuckle by using the SST (09568-2J100).

  15. Remove the tension arm pin and nut (A).

    Tightening torque: 

    88.3 - 107.9 N.m (9.0 - 11.0 kgf.m, 65.1 - 79.6 lb-ft)

  16. Remove the tension arm from the knuckle by using the SST (09568-2J100).

  17. Remove the hood assembly.

    (Refer to Body - "HOOD ASSEMBLY ")

  18. Assemble the engine support fixture on the engine room.

    (Refer to Special Service Tools - "ENGINE SUPPORT FIXTURE ASSEMBLY DRAWING ")

  19. Disconnect the semi active engine mounting connector (A). [R 2.2]

  20. Loosen the engine mounting insulator nut (A).

    Tightening torque: 

    63.7 - 83.3 N.m (6.5 - 8.5 kgf.m, 47.0 - 61.5 lb-ft)

  21. Remove the clip (A) from the sub frame.

  22. Loosen the bolts (A) and then remove the sub frame.

    Tightening torque: 

    176.5 - 196.1 N.m (18.0 - 20.0 kgf.m, 130.2 - 144.7 lb-ft)

  23. Remove the tenstion arm (A) and lateral arm (B) after loosen the bolt & nut.

    Tightening torque 

    Tenstion arm bolt & nut: 156.9 - 176.5 N.m (16.0 - 18.0 kgf.m, 115.7 - 130.2 lb-ft)

    Lateral arm bolt & nut: 117.7 - 132.4 N.m (12.0 - 13.5 kgf.m, 86.8 - 97.6 lb-ft)

  24. Remove the engine bracket from the sub frame.

    Tightening torque: 

    49.0 - 63.7 N.m (5.0 - 6.5 kgf.m, 36.2 - 47.0 lb-ft)
