DESCRIPTION
Certain 2021-2023MY GV80 (JX1), 2022-2023MY GV70 (JK1), 2021-2023MY G80 (RG3) and 2023MY G80 Electrified (RG3 EV) vehicles may exhibit a warning light with DTC C162078 due to improper detection of steel structures.
Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) functions are not affected due to this condition. Follow the procedure in this bulletin to update the front radar unit and perform all related adjustments according to shop manual.

- Submit claim on Claim Entry Screen as "Warranty" type.
- This TSB includes Repair validation photo(s). Op times include VIN, Mileage, and photo capture of the "ECU update complete" screen as outlined in the Digital Documentation Policy.
- If a part is found in need of replacement while performing this TSB and the affected part is still under warranty, submit a separate claim using the same repair order. If the affected part is out of warranty, submit a Prior Approval request for goodwill consideration prior to performing the work.

SERVICE PROCEDURE
DIGITAL DOCUMENTATION
This TSB includes Repair validation photos. Refer to the latest Warranty Digital Documentation Policy for requirements.
- If the ECU update starts but then fails in Auto Mode, perform the update in Manual Mode to recover.
Information
- Turn OFF all lamps (do NOT leave head lamp switch in auto mode) and all accessories.
- Perform update with the ignition switch in the ON position.
- Do NOT disconnect any cables connected to the vehicle or scan tool during update.
- Do NOT start the engine during update.
- Do NOT turn OFF the ignition switch during update.
AUTOMATIC UPDATE PROCEDURE WITH GDS-SMART
- Perform the ECU update in Auto Mode.
Use the ID Check to verify the ROM ID before updating the software.
Information
Refer to TSB # 24-GI-016G, ECU UPDATE PROCEDURE FOR TABLET-BASED GENESIS SMART , for additional information.
- Select the Front Radar
system to scan the vehicle's current ROM ID.NOTE: Check the current ROM ID version and compare it to the ROM ID Information table before attempting to perform the software update.NOTE: If the update fails, please remove the power connector or the battery (-) connector from the indoor fuse box for at least 5 seconds and reassemble it to retry the update.
- After the ECU update process shows 100% complete, follow the prompts on the screen to cycle the ignition OFF for at least 10 seconds
to reset the control unit (certain models may take up to 30 seconds
).
Information
Use the Refresh button to reset the timer.
- DIGITAL DOCUMENTATION
Take a screenshot of the ECU update complete screen using your tablet and upload to STUI.
- Perform an All Systems Fault Code
search and erase DTC history that had incidentally occurred from the ECU update.
- Disconnect the power connector of the indoor fuse box, wait at least 5 seconds, then reconnect it.

Alternatively, disconnect the negative (-) 12V battery terminal, wait 5 seconds, then reconnect it.
- Start the engine OR place in Ready mode to confirm proper operation of the vehicle.
- Proceed to the FRONT RADAR CALIBRATION section on page 7
to recalibrate the system.NOTE: If the ECU update fails in Auto Mode, perform the update in Manual Mode using the password(s) below.

FRONT RADAR CALIBRATION
Information
After the front radar software update, system recalibration MUST be performed.
Calibration MUST be performed in Driving Mode (C2) , NOT Stop Mode.
Refer to the shop manual:
- Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) > Front Radar System> Front Radar Unit > Repair procedures
- Select S/W Management
(A) then select Front Radar
(B).
- Select Inspection/correction of the front radar mounting angle
(C) then Run
(D).
- Review the correction procedure and preconditions before selecting OK
(E).

Calibration MUST be performed in Driving Mode (C2) .
Front bumper removal is NOT required as indicated on the preparation steps.
- Input "00"
(F) into the code input field.
- Select OK
(G) then select C2
(H).
Information
Calibration MUST be performed in Driving Mode (C2).
- Follow the preparation steps to perform the Driving Mode (C2)
calibration.
- Calibration progress will be shown on the screen until it is successfully completed.
Information
Vehicle needs to be driven more than 40 MPH until the progress reaches 100%.

The cluster will display Forward Safety & Master warning lights until the calibration is completed.
- The repair procedure is now complete.
