Repair Procedures: Removal

- Set No. 1 cylinder to TDC.
- Turn the crankshaft damper pulley clockwise and align its groove with the timing mark of the timing chain cover.
- Check that the mark of the intake and exhaust CVVT sprockets timing are in straight line on the cylinder head surface as shown in the illustration. If not, turn the crankshaft clockwise one revolution (360°).

NOTE:- If timing marks are not in line, turn the crankshaft clockwise one revolution (360°). (Do not rotate crankshaft counterclockwise.)
- Turn the crankshaft damper pulley clockwise and align its groove with the timing mark of the timing chain cover.
- Remove the timing chain cover.

NOTE:- Before removing the timing chain, mark the RH/LH timing chain with an identification based on the location of the sprocket because the identification mark on the timing chain for timing mark can be erased.

- Remove the oil pump chain and oil pump sprocket.
(Refer to Lubrication System - "OIL PUMP ")
- Install a set pin after compressing the timing chain tensioner by hold the ratchet clip (A).
- Remove the RH timing chain cam to cam guide (A).
- Remove the RH timing chain tensioner (A).
- Remove the RH timing chain tensioner arm (A).
- Remove the RH timing chain (A).
- Remove the RH timing chain guide (A).
- Remove the RH crankshaft chain sprocket (A).
- Install a set pin after compressing the timing chain tensioner by hold the ratchet clip (A).
- Remove the LH timing chain cam to cam guide (A).
- Remove the LH timing chain tensioner (A).
- Remove the LH timing chain tensioner arm (A).
- Remove the LH timing chain (A).
- Remove the LH timing chain guide (A).
- Remove the LH crankshaft chain sprocket (A).
- Remove the LH timing chain tensioner adapter (A).
