Repair Procedures: Removal

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
NOTE:
  • Do not disassemble the BJ assembly.
  • Special grease must be applied to the driveshaft joint. Do not substitute with another type of grease.
  • The boot band should be replaced with a new one.
  1. Remove the front drive shaft.

    (Refer to Driveshaft Assembly - "FRONT DRIVESHAFT ")

  2. Remove the clip (B) from the transmission side joint spline (A).

  3. Remove the transmission side joint (TJ) both boot band.

  4. Pull the transmission side joint (TJ) boot.
  5. After removing the clip, separate from the joint (TJ) boot (A) on the transmission side. Then put aside the TJ boot and the outer race (B) of TJ after wiping the grease inside the outer race of TJ.

    NOTE:
    • Be careful not to damage the boot.
    • In illustration as shown below, mark (D) on the roller (A) of trunnion assembly, outer race (B) of TJ and spline part (C) for assembling work.

  6. Remove the snapping (A) by using the snap ring plier (-) driver.

  7. Remove the spider assembly (B) from the driveshaft (A) using the SST (09495-33000).

  8. Clean the spider assembly.
  9. Remove the transmission side joint (TJ) boot (A).
    NOTE:
    • For reusing the boot (A), wrap tape (B) around the driveshaft splines (C) to protect the boot (A).
