Repair Procedures: Removal

  1. If a compressor is available, the air conditioner is operated for a few minutes in the engine idle state and then the engine is stopped.
  2. Disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal.
  3. Recover the refrigerant with a recovery/charging station.
  4. Remove the drive belt.

    (Refer to Engine Mechanical System - "DRIVE BELT - 2.5L")

    (Refer to Engine Mechanical System - "DRIVE BELT - 3.5L")

  5. Loosen the mounting nuts and separate the suction line (A), discharge line (B).

    Tightening torque: 

    6.9 - 10.8 N.m (0.7 - 1.1 kgf.m, 5.1 - 8.0 lb-ft)

    NOTE:
    • Plug or cap the lines immediately after disconnecting them to avoid moisture and dust contamination.

  6. Press the lock pin and separate the ECV connector (A).

  7. Loosen the mounting bolts and remove the compressor assembly (A).

    Tightening torque: 

    33.3 - 47.1 N.m (3.4 - 4.8 kgf.m, 24.6 - 34.7 lb-ft)

  8. Remove the compressor ground cable and then remove the compressor assembly (B) front the vehicle.
