Repair Procedures: Removal
- Turn ignition switch OFF and disconnect the negative (-) battery cable.
- Loosen the bolt (A) and then separate the universal joint from the steering column and shaft.
Tightening torque:
32.4 - 37.3 N.m (3.3 - 3.8 kgf.m, 23.9 - 27.5 lb-ft)
NOTE:- Keep the steering wheel in a neutral position. Moving the steering wheel may damage the cable inside the clock spring.
- Tighten the steering column bolts in the same direction as they were removed.
- Do not reuse the universal joint bolt when installing.
- Remove the engine side cover (A).
- Remove the LH side cover (A).
- Remove the service cover (A).
- Disconnect the continuously variable damping control connector (A) and then remove the cap (B).
- Assemble the engine support fixture.
(Refer to Special Service Tools - "ENGINE SUPPORT FIXTURE ASSEMBLY DRAWING ")
- Using the engine support fixture (A), hold the engine and transaxle assembly safely.
- Loosen the engine mounting bracket nut (A).
Tightening torque:
63.7 - 83.3 N.m (6.5 - 8.5 kgf.m, 47.0 - 61.5 lb-ft)

- Loosen the wheel nuts slightly.
Raise the vehicle, and make sure it is securely supported.
- Remove the front wheel and tire (A) from front hub.
Tightening torque:
137.3 - 156.9 N.m (14.0 - 16.0 kgf.m, 101.3 - 115.7 lb-ft)
NOTE: - Remove the under cover.
(Refer to Engine Mechanical System - "ENGINE ROOM UNDER COVER ")
- Remove the front wheel guard.
(Refer to Body (Interior and Exterior) - "FRONT WHEEL GUARD ")
- Disconnect the R-MDPS connector (A).
- Remove the R-MDPS wiring clip (A) from the cross member.
- Remove the ground wiring clip (A) from the cross member.
- Disconnect the semi active engine mounting connector (A).

- Remove the snap pin and then loosen the castle nut (A).
Tightening torque:
98.1 - 117.7 N.m (10.0 - 12.0 kgf.m, 72.3 - 86.8 lb-ft)
- Remove the tension arm ball joint by using the SST (09568-2J100).
- Remove the tension arm (A) after loosening the bolt and nut.
Tightening torque:
156.9 - 176.5 N.m (16.0 - 18.0 kgf.m, 115.7 - 130.2 lb-ft)
NOTE:- Do not reuse the bolt and nut.
- Remove the snap pin and then loosen the castle nut (A).
Tightening torque:
98.1 - 117.7 N.m (10.0 - 12.0 kgf.m, 72.3 - 86.8 lb-ft)
- Remove the lateral arm ball joint by using the SST (09568-2J100).
- Loosen the fork bracket mounting bolt (A).
Tightening torque:
156.9 - 176.5 N.m (16.0 - 18.0 kgf.m, 115.7 - 130.2 lb-ft)
NOTE:- Do not reuse the bolt and nut.
- Loosen the nut (A) and then remove the stabilizer link from the front knuckle.
Tightening torque:
98.1 - 117.7 N.m (10.0 - 12.0 kgf.m, 72.3 - 86.8 lb-ft)
NOTE:- When loosening the nut, fix the outer hexagon of stabilizer bar link.
- Be careful not to damage the stabilizer link boots.
- Remove the split pin and then loosen the nut (A).
Tightening torque:
98.1 - 117.7 N.m (10.0 - 12.0 kgf.m, 72.3 - 86.8 lb-ft)
- Remove the tie rod end ball joint (A) by using the SST (09568-2J100).
- By hammering on a chisel, unlock the driveshaft lock hub nut caulking.NOTE:
- If there is screw thread (A) on the end of the nut, unlock the caulking by using a chisel and then loosen the nut to prevent damaging driveshaft screw thread.
- Loosen the caulking nut (A) from the driveshaft and then separate the driveshaft from the hub assembly by using the plastic hammer.
Tightening torque:
294.2 - 313.8 N.m (30.0 - 32.0 kgf.m, 217.0 - 231.5 lb-ft)
NOTE:- When removing the drive shaft, use a plastic hammer in order to avoid shock applied to the axle.
- When removing the drive shaft, do not forcibly pull or excessively bend the axle to separate.
NOTE:- The driveshaft lock nut must be replaced with new one.
- When replacing the drive lock hub nut, use only the nut with screw thread (A) on the end.
- Tighten the driveshaft lock hub nut to the specified tightening torque, and caulk by using a chisel and hammer.
- If there are two key seats, perform on all two seats.
Caulking depth (A): 1.5 mm (0.0591 in)
- Loosen the mounting bolt and then remove the inner shaft bearing bracket and the front drive shaft (A) from the engine oil pan.
Tightening torque:
49.0 - 68.6 N.m (5.0 - 7.0 kgf.m, 36.2 - 50.6 lb-ft)
- Loosen the bolt and then remove the front cross member (A).
Tightening torque:
196.1 - 215.7 N.m (20.0 - 22.0 kgf.m, 144.7 - 159.1 lb-ft)
- Remove the side cover (A).
Tightening torque:
8.8 - 13.7 N.m (0.9 - 1.4 kgf.m, 6.5 - 10.1 lb-ft)

- Loosen the bolt and then remove the stabilizer bar (A).
Tightening torque:
49.0 - 63.7 N.m (5.0 - 6.5 kgf.m, 36.2 - 47.0 lb-ft)
- Loosen the bolt and then remove the steering gear box (A).
Tightening torque:
107.9 - 127.5 N.m (11.0 - 13.0 kgf.m, 79.6 - 94.0 lb-ft)
- Loosen the bolt and then remove the engine mounting bracket (A).
Tightening torque:
49.0 - 63.7 N.m (5.0 - 6.5 kgf.m, 36.2 - 47.0 lb-ft)
