Removal And Installation

  1. Disconnect the 12V battery negative (-) terminal.
  2. Loosen the front wheel nuts slightly.

    Raise the vehicle, and make sure it is securely supported.

    CAUTION:
    • When lifting a vehicle using a lift, be careful not to damage the lower parts of the vehicle (floor under cover, battery)

      (Refer to General Information - "LIFT AND SUPPORT POINTS ")

  3. Remove the front wheel and tire.

    (Refer to Tires/Wheels - "WHEEL ")

  4. Remove the front trunk.

    (Refer to Body (Interior/Exterior/Electrical) - "FRONT TRUNK ")

  5. Drain the motor coolant.

    (Refer to Cooling System - "COOLANT ")

  6. Recover the air conditioner refrigerant.

    (Refer to Heating, Ventilation And Air Conditioning - "REFRIGERANT RECOVERY/RECYCLING/CHARGING/VACUUM ")

  7. Disconnect the cooler hose (A).

  8. Disconnect the cooler hose (A) and 3 way valve hose (B).

  9. Remove the power electric room cover (A).

  10. Remove the strut bar (A). [LH]

  12. Disconnect the PE module connector (A).

  13. Remove the mounting nut (A).

    Tightening torque: 

    4.9 - 7.8 N.m (0.5 - 0.8 kgf.m, 3.6 - 5.8 lb-ft)

  14. Remove the ground line bolt (A).

    Tightening torque: 

    10.8 - 13.7 N.m (1.1 - 1.4 kgf.m, 8.0 - 10.1 lb-ft)

  15. Remove the fastener (A).

  21. Remove the refrigerants pipe line mounting nut (A)

    Tightening torque: 

    20.6 - 31.4 N.m (2.1 - 3.2 kgf.m, 15.2 - 23.1 lb-ft)

  22. Disconnect the VCU (A) and then separate the fastener (B).

  23. Remove the refrigerants pipe line mounting nuts (A).

    Tightening torque: 

    20.6 - 31.4 N.m (2.1 - 3.2 kgf.m, 15.2 - 23.1 lb-ft)

  24. Remove the refrigerants pipe line mounting nuts (A).

    Tightening torque: 

    20.6 - 31.4 N.m (2.1 - 3.2 kgf.m, 15.2 - 23.1 lb-ft)

  25. Disconnect the coolant hose (A).

  28. Remove the ground line mounting bolt (A).

    Tightening torque: 

    19.6 - 26.5 N.m (2.0 - 2.7 kgf.m, 14.5 - 19.5 lb-ft)

  29. Remove the front under cover.

    (Refer to Motor and Reduction Gear System - "FRONT UNDER COVER ")

  30. Remove the clip (A).

  31. Disconnect the R-MDPS connector (A).

  35. Remove the steering gear box from the universal joint after loosing the universal joint mounting bolt (A).

    Tightening torque: 

    32.4 - 37.3 N.m (3.3 - 3.8 kgf.m, 23.9 - 27.5 lb-ft)

  36. Remove the front axle assembly.

    (Refer to Driveshaft and axle - "FRONT DRIVESHAFT ")

  37. Securely support the front sub frame using the lift table (A).

  38. Remove the front sub frame after removing the mounting bolts (A, B, C)

    Tightening torque: 

    196.1 - 215.7 N.m (20.0 - 22.0 kgf.m, 144.7 - 159.1 lb-ft)

  39. Lift the front motor and reduction gear assembly (B) using a crane jack and adapter (09200-4X000) (A).

  40. Remove the front motor and reduction gear after removing the mounting bolts (A).

    Tightening torque: 

    107.9 - 127.5 N.m (11.0 - 13.0 kgf.m, 76.9 - 94.0 lb-ft)

  41. Install in the reverse order of removal.
  42. Check the alignment.
