Repair Procedures: Replacement
- Disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal.
- Recover the refrigerant with a recovery/recycling/charging station.
- When the engine cools down, drain the engine coolant from the radiator.
(Refer to Engine Mechanical System - "COOLANT " - 2.5L)
(Refer to "COOLANT " - 3.5L)
- Remove the cowl top cover.
(Refer to Body - "COWL TOP COVER ")
- Remove the front wiper motor.
(Refer to Body Electrical System - "FRONT WIPER MOTOR ")
- Loosen the mounting bolts and remove the expansion valve (A) from the evaporator core.
Tightening torque:
8.8 - 13.7 N.m (0.9-1.4 kgf.m, 6.5-10.1 lb-ft)
NOTE:- Plug or cap the lines immediately after disconnecting them to avoid the intrusion of moisture and dust.
- When installing, replace with a new O-ring.
- Remove the heater hose (A).CAUTION:
- Engine coolant will run out when the hoses are disconnected; drain it into a clean drip pan. Be sure not to let coolant spill on electrical parts or painted surfaces. If any coolant spills, rinse it off immediately.
- Loosen the cowl cross member mounting bolts.
- Remove the front seat assembly.
(Refer to Body - "FRONT SEAT ASSEMBLY ")
- Remove the floor console assembly.
(Refer to Body (interior and Exterior) - ("FLOOR CONSOLE ASSEMBLY ")
- Remove the both front pillar trim.
(Refer to Body (Interior and Exterior) - ("FRONT PILLAR TRIM ")
- Remove the front door scuff trim.
(Refer to Body (Interior and Exterior) - "DOOR SCUFF TRIM ")
- Remove the cowl side trim.
(Refer to Body (Interior and Exterior) - "COWL SIDE TRIM ")
- Remove crash pad lower panel.
(Refer to Body (Interior and Exterior) - "CRASH PAD LOWER PANEL ")
- Remove the crash pad center panel.
(Refer to Body (Interior and Exterior) - "CRASH PAD CENTER PANEL ")
- Remove the steering column shroud lower panel.
(Refer to Body (Interior and Exterior - "STEERING COLUMN SHROUD PANEL ")
- Remove the steering wheel.
(Refer to Steering System - "STEERING WHEEL ")
- Remove the multifunction switch.
(Refer to Body Electrical System - "MULTIFUNCTION SWITCH ")
- Pull down the steering column after loosening the mounting bolts and through bolts.
(Refer to Steering System - "STEERING COLUMN AND SHAFT ")
- Remove the accelerator pedal plug hole (A).
- Loosen the mounting bolt and nut, remove the accelerator pedal (A).
- Disconnect the accelerator pedal connector (A).
- Remove the rear air duct (B) after separate the floor carpet (A).
- Disconnect the SRSCM connector (A).
- spread the front tunnel pad (A) in the direction of the arrow.

- Remove the rear heating duct (A).
- Disconnect the rear monitor connector (A) and remove the various clips, detach the wiring harness (B).NOTE:
- (C) Take care not to change the left and right side of the connector.
- Disconnect the junction box connectors (A).
- Disconnect the connectors (A) after loosen the mounting clips in the front pillar.

- Disconnect the multi box connectors (A).

- Remove the drain hose (A).
- Remove the bowler unit lower mounting bolt (A).
Tightening torque:
3.9 - 5.9 N.m (0.4 - 0.6 kgf.m, 2.9 - 4.3 lb-ft)

- Disconnect the heater & blower unit connectors.
[Driver's side]
- Press the lock pin disconnect the console ON/OFF actuator connector (A), loosen the mounting screws and remove the console ON/OFF actuator (B).
- Loosen the mounting screw and remove the driver's shower duct (A).
- Press the lock pin and disconnect the auto defogging sensor actuator connector (A) and driver's temperature control actuator connector (B).
- Press the lock pin and disconnect the driver's mode control actuator connector (A) and (B).
[Passenger's side]
- Loosen the mounting screw and remove the passenger's shower duct (A).
- Press the lock pin and disconnect the console mode control actuator connector (A) and console temperature control actuator connector (B).
- Press the lock pin and disconnect the console temperature control actuator connector (A).
- Press the lock pin and disconnect the A/C-Heater bypass actuator connector (A).
- Press the lock pin and disconnect the passenger's temperature control connector (A).
- Press the lock pin and disconnect the power mosfet connector (A).
- Press the lock pin and disconnect the vent actuator connector (A).
- Press the lock pin and disconnect the passenger's mode control actuator connector (A).
- Press the lock pin and disconnect the intake actuator connector (A).
- Press the lock pin and then disconnect the blower motor connector (A).
- Remove the IBU unit (B) after loosen the IBU mounting bolt and nut, connector (A).
- Press the lock pin disconnect the console ON/OFF actuator connector (A), loosen the mounting screws and remove the console ON/OFF actuator (B).
- Loosen the mounting bolts and nuts, remove the crash pad and heater & blower unit (A) from the body.
- Loosen the heater & blower unit mounting bolt (A).
Tightening torque:
3.9 - 5.9 N.m (0.4 - 0.6 kgf.m, 2.9 - 4.3 lb-ft)
- Loosen the mounting nuts and remove the heater & blower unit (A) from the crash pad.
Tightening torque:
3.9 - 5.9 N.m (0.4 - 0.6 kgf.m, 2.9 - 4.3 lb-ft)
- Loosen the mounting screws and detach the heater unit (A) from the heater & blower assembly.
- Install in the reverse order of removal.
Information
- Replace any damaged clips.
- Make sure the connector is connected properly.
