Starter - Direct Drive: Description

The Nippondenso direct-drive starter, used only on Metro (M/T), is a conventional 12-volt, 4-brush-type starter with integral starter solenoid attached to drive housing. When starter is energized, the starter solenoid engages starter pinion drive to flywheel ring gear. The overrunning clutch-pinion drive mounts directly on armature shaft drive end.
