Code 4, Limit Valve Reset Switch Closed

  1. Turn ignition off. Disconnect RWAL EBCM connector. Measure resistance between EBCM harness connector terminal No. 4 and ground. See Figure .
  2. If resistance reading is greater than 10,000 ohms, check RWAL EBCM connections. If connections are okay, replace RWAL EBCM. If resistance reading is less than 10,000 ohms, disconnect pressure limit valve connector.
  3. Measure resistance between limit valve reset switch connector terminal No. 2 and ground. See Figure . If resistance is less than 10,000 ohms, replace pressure limit valve.
  4. If resistance is greater than 10,000 ohms, measure resistance between valve connector terminal No. 2 and ground. See Figure . If resistance is less than 100,000 ohms, repair short to ground in Blue wire of harness.
  5. If resistance is greater than 100,000 ohms, firmly press brake pedal. Measure resistance between limit valve terminals No. 2 and 4. If resistance is less than 10,000 ohms, replace pressure limit valve. If resistance is greater than 10,000 ohms, replace RWAL EBCM.
  6. Clear Code 4 by disconnecting negative battery cable for at least 5 seconds.
