Steering Gear: Inspection

Check piston cylinder walls. If walls are scuffed or damaged, replace rack housing. Check rack housing for cracks and porosity. Check tie rod boots for splits and cracks. Check tie rods for wear and damage. Measure runout at center of rack. Maximum runout is .012" (.30 mm).
