Door Locks - Power: Operation

Battery power is applied at all times to the lock control module through the 15-amp DOOR LOCK fuse. Battery power is applied to the lock control module through the 20-amp IG fuse when ignition switch is in ON or START positions. If left and/or right doors are unlocked, door lock switches are closed, providing a reference ground signal to lock control module. Module will use this signal to ground LOCK DOORS indicator. Indicator informs driver that one or more doors are unlocked.

Lock control module also receives an input from vehicle speed sensor (VSS), which is permanently grounded. If any door is unlocked, lock control module automatically locks door(s) when signal from VSS indicates vehicle speeds greater than 8 MPH. If doors are unlocked at speeds greater than 8 MPH, lock control module will not automatically lock doors again until vehicle is brought to a complete stop, and then once again accelerated to greater than 8 MPH.
