Chart A1-1 (PRIZM) - No Malfunction Indicator Light: Notes
Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) should remain on when ignition switch is in ON position and engine is not running. Battery voltage is applied to indicator bulb. ECM controls indicator bulb and turns it on by providing a ground path through Red/Yellow wire to ECM.
NOTE:
Test numbers refer to test numbers on diagnostic chart.
- Checks if engine will start.
- Checks if ECM is receiving power.
- Checks for open in Red/Yellow wire to ECM or a faulty ECM.
- Checks if EFI F-HTR relay switch is receiving power.
- Checks if ECM has a good ground.
- Checks for open in Red/Yellow wire to instrument cluster.
- Checks if MIL is receiving power.
- Checks if EFI F-HTR relay coil is receiving power.
- Checks for open in EFI F-HTR ground wire.
- Checks for open in Black/Orange wire between junction block No. 1 and fuse/relay box or a faulty junction block No. 1.
