Throttle Position (TP) Sensor: Inspection

NOTE: Perform all testing procedures with engine at normal operating temperature.
  1. Insert a .14" (3.5 mm) feeler gauge between throttle stop screw and throttle lever. See Figure . If Idle Speed Control (ISC) motor plunger is contacting throttle lever screw, bring engine up to operating temperature.
  2. Connect scan tool to DLC and turn ignition on and engine off. Using scan tool, read TP sensor voltage. If voltage is not .98-1.02 volts, adjust or replace TP sensor. See procedure under ADJUSTMENT  . If voltage is .98-1.02 volts, TP sensor is adjusted properly.
