Throttle Position (TP) Sensor: Adjustment
NOTE:
Perform all testing procedures with engine at normal operating temperature.
CAUTION:
DO NOT use throttle stop screw to adjust throttle position sensor.
- Disconnect electrical connector from TP sensor. Loosen TP sensor retaining screws. On models equipped with throttle opener, disconnect throttle opener vacuum hose from throttle body, and apply vacuum to hose.
- Insert specified feeler gauges between throttle lever and throttle stop screw. See Fig 1. Using ohmmeter, measure resistance between specified terminals at TP sensor. See THROTTLE POSITION (TP) SENSOR RESISTANCE table. See Fig 2. Rotate TP sensor until indicated resistance is as specified. Tighten TP sensor retaining screws.
- Reconnect electrical connector and throttle opener vacuum hose to throttle body (if removed). Ensure throttle opener is properly adjusted. See THROTTLE OPENER under IDLE SPEED & MIXTURE.
