Description & Operation
Axle shaft assembly consists of inner and outer Constant Velocity (CV) joint assemblies joined by an axle shaft. The inner (differential-side) joint may be of a tripot or double-offset design, depending on application. See CV JOINT APPLICATION table. Outer (wheel-side) joint is of the ball and socket design.
Tripot and Double-Offset Joint (DOJ) types are both flexible and have in-and-out movement capability, while ball and socket type joints provide flexible movement only.
