Cruise Control Systems: Description
WARNING:
To avoid injury from accidental air bag deployment, read and carefully follow all WARNINGS and SERVICE PRECAUTIONS. See AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEM
article.
CAUTION:
When battery is disconnected, radio will go into anti-theft protection mode. Obtain radio anti-theft protection code from owner prior to servicing vehicle.
Main cruise control system components consist of: Cruise Control Module (CCM), actuator, cruise control switch, Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) and cancel switches. Cancel switches are used to disengage cruise control operation. Cancel switches consist of: stoplight switch, cruise control switch, Park/Neutral Position (PNP) switch (A/T) and Clutch Pedal Position (CPP) interrupt switch (M/T). See Figure .
On all models, a Throttle Position (TP) sensor, located on throttle body, informs CCM that throttle is in idle position. On models equipped with 4-speed A/T, PCM will send a shift solenoid No. 2 signal informing CCM that transaxle is in 2nd or 3rd gear and is out of overdrive mode.
