Fast Idle Unloader (Cold Engine) Test

  1. Disconnect 2 vacuum hoses from fast idle unloader. Open and close throttle fully to engage fast idle cam and start engine. If engine has fast idle, proceed to Fast Idle Unloader (Hot Engine).
  2. If engine fails to run at fast idle, stop engine, remove choke cover and check operation of fast idle cam. Apply vacuum to inside fitting of unloader, and start engine. If idle speed drops, proceed to Fast Idle Unloader (Hot Engine).
  3. If idle fails to drop, check unloader for leaks, blockage or damaged diaphragm. Remove choke cover. Check unloader rod for free movement. Repair or replace as necessary and reconnect vacuum hoses.
