Cold Engine
- With engine off, disconnect 2 vacuum hoses from fast idle unloader. Open and close throttle fully to engage fast idle cam. Start engine. Engine should run at fast idle. If engine fails to run at fast idle, stop engine and remove choke cover. Check operation of fast idle cam. Repair or replace components as necessary.
- If engine runs at fast idle, connect a vacuum pump to inside fitting of unloader and apply vacuum. The fast idle speed should drop. If fast idle speed drops, proceed to FAST IDLE UNLOADER (HOT ENGINE).
- If fast idle fails to drop, check unloader for leaks, blockage or damaged diaphragm. Remove choke cover. Check unloader rod for free movement. Repair or replace as necessary. Reconnect vacuum hoses.
